€-coin declines in May
Wednesday, May 31, 2017
- In May, the €-coin indicator declined to 0.60 from 0.67 in April, although it is still at a level consistent with strong economic growth in the euro area.
- The indicator was curbed by weak industrial activity, the effect of which offset the positive stimulus deriving from share prices.
- The €-coin indicator developed by the Bank of Italy provides a summary index of the current economic situation in the euro area. The indicator is an estimate of quarterly GDP growth shorn of the most erratic components (seasonal variations, measurement errors and short-run volatility). €-coin is published monthly by the Bank of Italy and CEPR.
- Next €-coin release dates: Friday 30 June and Friday 28 July (preliminary).
