The
ESRC Resource Centre at CEPR
|
In 1993 the Economic
and Social Research Council (ESRC),
established a Resource Centre in the Centre for Economic Policy Research
to provide networking, dissemination, support and training services to
the UK research community in economics and closely related social
science disciplines. The Resource Centre underwent a mid-term review in
1997 and its contract was renewed for a further three years.
The Resource Centre has been successful in providing a variety of
valuable networking,
dissemination,
support
and training activities; in integrating users
and beneficiaries
into the planning and execution of high quality, policy relevant
research and in launching a large number of initiatives which have made
a significant contribution in areas which ESRC has identified as its
thematic priorities.
The Resource Centre also has a Media Consultant, who advises on the media via the ESRC’s External Relations department.
The Resource Centre provides:
- networking services for the communities of producers and users and
beneficiaries of economics research within the UK;
- dissemination services provided for the community as in (1) above;
- other support services, conferences and workshops for the
community as in (1) above;
- and develops measures to ensure that users and beneficiaries are
fully engaged in the design, execution and dissemination of this
research.
In order to achieve these objectives the Resource Centre:
- assists UK researchers to participate effectively in European and
international networks and collaborative research programmes;
- publishes the CEPR Bulletin
- publishes
European
Economic Perspectives
- develops the CEPR lunchtime meeting series;
- expands the programme of CEPR conferences;
- administers the New Scholars Programme.
develops opportunities for the UK economics community to benefit from
the Centre’s services, including opportunities for those not based at
‘top rated’ universities:
