Directions (within London)
The nearest London Underground (tube) stations to the Graduate Centre is Stepney Green (on the District and Hammersmith and City Lines) which is a 4 minute walk away or Mile End (on the District / Hammersmith and City / Central line) which is an 8 minute walk away. Buses from the city centre (in the direction of Ilford or Bow Church) no 25 and 205 stop right outside the University (stop name: Queen Mary / University of London).
View the location map at the bottom of this page for walking directions from both stations.
For participants staying in the Town Hall Hotel (see below), the central line directly connects Bethnal Green station to Mile End (1 stop - only 2 minutes) or use the D6 bus towards Mile End Station / Bow Road (15 minutes).
You can plan your journey across the entire London Transport system (buses, tube) here: https://tfl.gov.uk/plan-a-journey/
Fares - if you have a contactless debit / credit card, this will make the fares cheaper and you don't have to queue for a ticket. You tap the card on the yellow reader at the gates before entering / leaving the station.
Bethnal Green station (for the hotel) and Stepney Green / Mile End are stations are all in zone 2. A single fare with a contactless card is £1.70 (peak) / £1.50 (off-peak) as opposed to £4.90 any time cash fare.
If you use your card various times in the day, a cap will be applied of up to £33 so here, it would be worth getting an Oyster card (works in the same way as a contactless card but the cap is £6.60) or a paper zones 1-2 day travel card at £12.30. You can get an Oyster card via the ticket machines at any station (unfortunately there are no manned kiosks open anymore).
You can find out more about fares (single or travelcard) here: https://tfl.gov.uk/fares-and-payments/fares
