PEDL Workshops December 2014

Private Enterprise Development in Low-Income Countries (PEDL) Research Workshop

The British Academy

10-11 Carlton House Terrace, Wolfson Room, London SW1Y-5AH

11-12 December 2014

On December 11-12, PEDL will host a Research Workshop. Several ERG and MRG grantees will attend and present their projects to fellow researchers. As the projects are all at different stages of implementation, this will involve a mixture of polished papers and works-in-progress. This will give PEDL grantees a valuable opportunity to find out what their colleagues have been working on and potentially gain some inspiration for future scale-ups of their projects. The conference will take place at the British Academy in London.
Prior to this workshop, PEDL will also host a four-day workshop with researchers based in LICs at the University of Warwick. On the 7th and 8th of December, the LIC researchers will have the opportunity to present their research, receive extensive, tailored feedback on their proposals, and learn about causality and empirical research from some senior research faculty. On the 9th and 10th of December, the LIC researchers will be joined by several PEDL grantees who are currently PhD students. The workshop will then take a conference format, with presentations from both the PhD student grantees and LIC-based grantees for further feedback. One of the goals of this session is networking between the grantees and for them to interact with fellow researchers in the same sub-fields of development.
