Benoît Cœuré joins the Conseil of the CEPR Association in Paris and the Board of Trustees in London

CEPR is delighted to announce that Benoît Cœuré has joined the Conseil of the CEPR Association in Paris and the Board of Trustees in London. He will succeed Professor Sir Charlie Bean as Chair of CEPR when the latter reaches the end of his term in September 2026. This position is non-executive and non-remunerated.

Benoît has served as President of the Autorité de la Concurence since 2022. From 2019 to 2021 he was a member of the Executive Committee of the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) as Head of the BIS Innovation Hub, and from 2012-2019 was a member of the Executive Board of the European Central Bank. He holds postgraduate degrees from the Ecole Polytechnique and ENSAE, together with an undergraduate degree from Université Paris 7.

Sir Charlie Bean said:

“We are delighted that Benoît has agreed to join the Conseil and Board of CEPR. He brings a wealth of experience in the policy world together with a strong awareness of the part that academic research can play in guiding policy makers. As such, he is the ideal person to lead the Conseil and Board of CEPR in what is now a challenging environment for policy-makers everywhere.”

Benoît Cœuré said

“I am delighted to join the CEPR Boards in Paris and London. CEPR uniquely combines excellence in research with policy relevance. It asks the right questions, allows for diverse views and provides constructive solutions. It is a unique tool for policymakers and performs an indispensable function in bringing together policy-makers, writers, academics, and the informed public over an astonishingly wide range of subjects.”
