CEPR Research Fellow Gaston Gelos has been appointed Deputy Head of the Monetary and Economic Department at the Bank for International Settlements (BIS). Mr Gelos will join the BIS from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) where he serves as Assistant Director in the Western Hemisphere Department and Mission Chief for Mexico.

Mr Gelos is a Research Fellow for CEPR's International Macroeconomics and Finance programme. His research includes work on capital flows, financial stability, and monetary policy, and has been published widely in leading academic journals.
