Tommaso Valletti will replace Greg as Director of the RPN, and Rod Sims will become the new Chair of the Steering Committee. Greg, who co-founded the RPN in June 2021 with Cristina Caffarra, will move into a new role, joining Cristina as Vice-Chair(s) of the Steering Committee, with Tomaso Duso and Monika Schnitzer remaining as members. A full list of RPN members can be found here.

CEPR would like to thank Greg for his expert leadership and extensive contributions during his tenure. CEPR is also delighted to welcome Tommaso and Rod into new leadership roles, where their extensive experience in competition policy issues will undoubtedly help guide the network as it navigates and contributes to an increasingly prominent area of global research and debate. Speaking on his recent appointment, Tommaso said:

"Research in competition policy has never been more relevant. I am thrilled to work with this terrific network to promote useful policymaking and engage top-notch researchers with pressing questions for our society."

Overview

The CEPR Competition Policy RPN aims to become a leading platform for the critical discussion of competition policy design and outcomes. This is particularly important in an adversarial context such as competition enforcement, where parties with “skin in the game” seek to shape the public debate by sponsoring research favourable to their point of view. The RPN seeks to create a network of academics and enforcers to evaluate both influential decisions and academic research, and to generate practical guidance to promote better policymaking as well as more policy-relevant academic research. Transparency in these discussions is important, and the RPN has a strict disclosure policy for all participants in RPN events. Read more about the Competition Policy RPN here.
