André Nassar

Director General at Institute for International Trade Negotiations (ICONE)

André Meloni Nassar has served as the Director General of the Institute for International Trade Negotiations (ICONE) since 2007, an organisation where he was the general manager from 2003 until 2007. As the Head of ICONE Andre has been working as a Technical Adviser for several Brazilian private associations in topics related to international trade, international negotiations, market intelligence and sustainability issues with expertise in the following industries: sugarcane, poultry, beef, pork, dairy, soybean and rice. Since 2003 André has employed an active role in multilateral negotiations serving as an informal adviser of the Brazilian government for the agricultural negotiations of the Doha Round and as an Adviser of trade associations for WTO disputes. André has coordinated various projects, including those sponsored by international organisations such as The World Bank (three projects), Inter-American Development Bank (one project), The William and Flora Hewlett Foundation (two projects), International Agriculture and Trade Policy Council (one project), International Food and Policy Research Institute (one project), International Centre for Trade and Sustainable Development (four projects), and The Foreign and Commonwealth Office/Global Opportunities Fund (one project). Andre Nassar is an expert in international trade policy and in modeling long run scenarios of supply, demand and trade of agricultural, food and biofuel commodities. He earned a MS degree and PhD from the School of Economics and Business at the University of São Paulo (USP) and a BS in agronomy from the Luiz de Queiroz School of Agriculture at USP/ESALQ.
