Antonio Nucifora

Lead Economist for Brazil at The World Bank

Antonio Nucifora is the World Bank’s Lead Economist for Brazil. Since joining the Bank in 2002, he has worked on Central and Eastern European countries, Sub-Saharan Africa, and the Middle East and North Africa Region. In his most recent assignment prior to Brazil, Mr Nucifora was based in Tunis where he was the Lead Economist for Tunisia, and coordinated the Bank’s analytical program in Tunisia spanning poverty and inequality, macroeconomic policy, financial sector, labour markets, investment and private sector development, and trade policy. Before joining the World Bank, Mr Nucifora was a Visiting Professor at the University of Catania, Italy, from 1998 to 2002. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Oxford, where he was also a Rhodes Scholar, and a Masters in Economics from the London School of Economics (LSE).
