Ariane Szafarz

Professor of Finance at ECARES, Université Libre De Bruxelles

Ariane Szafarz is a professor of finance at the Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management (Centre Emile Bernheim & CERMi), Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB), Belgium. She holds a PhD in Mathematics and an MD in Philosophy. Her research topics include financial markets, microfinance, and gender discrimination in lending. Ariane is President of the Marie-Christine Adam Fund. She was a visiting professor at Université de Lille II, Université Catholique de Louvain, and the Luxembourg School of Finance. She published several books and scientific articles in, e.g., Econometric Theory, European Economic Review, Journal of Banking and Finance, Journal of Business Ethics, Journal of International Money and Finance, Kyklos, Review of Finance, and World Development. Ariane received two times (2016 and 2019) the Warren Samuels Prize awarded by the Association for Social Economics for co-authored articles presented at the ASSA Meetings.
