Arnoud van Waes is PhD Candidate in Innovation Studies at the Copernicus Institute of Sustainable Development at Utrecht University. His latest research focuses on business model innovation and institutional dynamics in the urban mobility sector. Currently he investigates the emergence and future of bike sharing in the Netherlands and China. Within the Smart Cycling Futures project he explores how living lab experimentation could drive urban mobility transformations. Prior to joining Utrecht University he was a researcher and project manager at the Technology Assessment department of the Rathenau Institute where he was involved in advisory projects for governments and companies concerning circular economy and energy innovations. Arnoud holds a bachelor in Mechanical Engineering and has a master degree in Innovation Sciences from Eindhoven University of Technology.
