Bas van der Klaauw (1973) is a Professor at the Department of Economics, VU University Amsterdam and Director of Tinbergen Institute. He is also affiliated to CEPR and IZA. He obtained his Ph.D. cum laude at VU University Amsterdam. He published in journals like American Economic Journal: Applied Economics, Economic Journal, Journal of Policitical Economy, International Economic Review, Journal of Labor Economics, Journal of the European Economic Association and Journal of Public Economics. His current research is mainly empirical and focuses on microeconomic analyses of labour markets, education and health. In 2008 he received an ERC Starting Grant for research on the evaluation of active labour market programs and in 2016 a VICI-grant from the Dutch Science Foundation NWO.
