Benjamin R. Mandel

Benjamin R. Mandel is an Economist in the Division of International Finance at the Federal Reserve Board. His research interests include international trade, open-economy macroeconomics and asset pricing, and he has written on the subjects of import quality, trade in primary commodities, offshoring, productivity measurement, export competitiveness, and investment in visual art. His work has been published in scholarly journals such as the American Economic Review and Journal of Economic Perspectives. Prior to joining the Federal Reserve, Ben received a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of California, Davis, a B.Sc. in Applied Economics from Cornell University, and worked as a Financial Analyst at the investment bank Lazard Frères & Co.
