Bram De Rock is director of the European Center for Advanced Research in Economics and Statistics (ECARES) located in Brussels. He is professor of economics at the Universite libre de Bruxelles and University of Leuven. He is also an Honorary Senior Research Associate at University College London (UCL) and an International research fellow at the Institute for Fiscal Studies (IFS). is research focuses mainly on understanding household behaviour in terms of labour supply and consumption decisions, marriage decisions, fertility, etc. This research resulted in more than 70 internationally peer reviewed publications and some of those are published in so-called top-5 journals in economics (only the Quarterly Journal of Economics is missing). In 2010 he received an ERC starting grant to support his promising research agenda. As a recognition for the societal relevance of his research, he received, together with his good friends Laurens Cherchye and Frederic Vermeulen, in 2019 the Francqui prize in human sciences, which is is the most prestigious scientific recognition in Belgium.
