Charles Yuji Horioka is Professor at the Center for Social Systems Innovation at Kobe University, Kobe, Japan. He is concurrently Distinguished Professor at the Asian Growth Research Institute (AGI) in Kitakyushu City, Japan, Invited Professor and Professor Emeritus at the Institute for Social and Economic Research (ISER), Osaka University, and Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER). In 2001, he was awarded the Seventh Japanese Economic Association/Nakahara Prize, which is given annually to the most outstanding Japanese economist aged 45 or younger. He is currently President of the Society of Economics of the Household (SEHO), President-elect of the International Association for Research in Income and Wealth (IARIW), and Vice-President of the Japanese Economic Association. He is also Co-Editor of Review of Economics of the Household and a member of the editorial boards of numerous other journals.
