Christian Gayer

Head, Business and Consumer Surveys and Short-term Forecasts Sector, DG Economic and Financial Affairs at European Commission

Christian Gayer is head of the sector "Business and consumer surveys and short-term forecasts" in the European Commission's Directorate-General for Economic and Financial Affairs since 2012. He is Council member of the Centre for International Research on Economic Tendency Surveys (CIRET). He has worked as economist in the Commission's DG ECFIN since 2004 on changing assignments. His responsibilities included business cycle analysis, economic policy coordination in the framework of the Commission’s European Semester and tax policy analysis. Christian holds a doctorate degree in economics from the University of Bochum.
