Christian von Haldenwang

Christian von Haldenwang is a senior researcher with the German Development Institute / Deutsches Institut für Entwicklungspolitik (DIE), located in the city of Bonn in Germany. He holds an M.A. in Political Science and Philosophy and a PhD in Political Science (University of Tübingen, 1994). Between 2003 and 2007 he was GTZ programme coordinator at the UN Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) in Santiago de Chile. Currently he works on research projects on “Mobilizing domestic revenue”, “Global Tax Expenditures Database (GTED)” and “Transformative urban coalitions”, and he is the DIE regional coordinator for Latin America. His activities in research and consultancy cover issues of taxation, decentralisation & urban governance, digitalisation, and legitimacy. As a guest lecturer at Université Clermont Auvergne and the Free University in Berlin, Christian regularly teaches seminars on taxation, natural resource-based development and decentralisation.
