Christoph Basten is an Assistant Professor of Banking in the Department of Banking and Finance and in the Research Priority Program Financial Market Regulation at the University of Zurich, He is also affiliated with the Swiss Finance Institute (SFI) and CESifo. Before he worked for close to 5 years as the Economist of the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority FINMA. After reading PPE at the University of Oxford, he obtained his masters at Pompeu Fabra and his PhD at the EUI. He also worked for the HarvardKennedy School, Deutsche Bank, the German Treasury and ETHZ-KOF. He has published in amongst others the Review of Finance, the Economic Journal, the Journal of Money, Credit and Banking, and the AEJ: Policy.
