Clara Capelli

PhD Candidate at the Department of Economics and Management at University Of Pavia

Clara Capelli is a PhD Candidate at the Department of Economics and Management at the University of Pavia, Italy. Her dissertation focuses on youth unemployment in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA region), its causes and some possible economic strategies to counteract this problem. Her current research interests mainly refer to the field of development economics, trying to match theoretical analysis with CGE modelling. She researched at the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics for her master thesis on the structural constraints of the Palestinian economy. She also worked for the Palestinian Economic Policy Research Institute (MAS) in Ramallah for an quantitative analysis of the possible effects of the introduction of a minimum wage policy in the Palestinian Territories. Beside her PhD-related activities, she works as a Teaching Assistant for the Master in International Cooperation and Development of Pavia and collaborates with two Italian websites on the MENA region. In 2012 she interned at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace in Beirut for research on the Algerian hydrocarbon sector. In 2013 she interned at the African Development Bank (North Africa Department) in Tunis.
