David Figlio is the Director of the Institute for Policy Research at Northwestern University, where he is also the Orrington Lunt Professor of Education and Social Policy and of Economics.
His research on education policy, health policy and public finance has been published in leading journals such as the American Economic Review, Journal of Human Resources, American Economic Journal: Applied Economics, American Economic Journal: Economic Policy, Journal of Public Economics, and Journal of Labor Economics, and has been funded by the U.S. Department of Education, the National Science Foundation, the National Institutes for Health, and the Annie E. Casey, Gates, MacArthur, Spencer, and Smith Richardson Foundations.
Figlio is the immediate past President of the Association for Education Finance and Policy and serves as Editor of the Journal of Human Resources. He has advised the governments of ten states and sixteen countries regarding education and health policy.
