Dirk Niepelt is professor of macroeconomics at the University of Bern, leads the CEPR Research and Policy Network on FinTech and Digital Currencies, and holds several other positions. Previously, he held positions at the Study Center Gerzensee, Foundation of the Swiss National Bank, including as the director (2010–2022); was assistant professor at the Institute for International Economic Studies (IIES) at Stockholm University; invited professor at the University of Lausanne; visiting professor at the IIES; and visited the European Central Bank, the International Monetary Fund and the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis. Before completing his doctoral education, he worked at applied research institutes at the University of St. Gallen and ETH Zurich. His research and teaching covers topics in macroeconomics, monetary economics, international finance, and public finance. He is the author of the MIT Press textbook “Macroeconomic Analysis.”
