Eiji Ogawa

Eiji Ogawa is a Professor at the Graduate School of Commerce and Management (International Finance), Hitotsubashi University and a Faculty Fellow at the Research Institute of Economy, Trade and Industry. His research expertise covers international currency and international finance. Prior to his current position, he was formerly a Visiting Scholar at the Research Department of the International Monetary Fund (2000); an Associate Professor (1991-1999), a Lecturer (1988-1991), and an Assistant (1986-1988), all at the Department of Commerce, Hitotsubashi University (1991-1999); a Visiting Scholar at the Department of Economics, University of California at Berkeley (1992-1993); and a Visiting Scholar at the Department of Economics, Harvard University (1986-1988). He earned his Ph.D. in Commerce from Hitotsubashi University in 1999. He is currently involved in two programs at RIETI: Research on Currency Baskets and Research on a Currency Basket, and is a sub-leader of the Monetary Cooperation and an Optimal Exchange Rate Basket in East Asia policy research domain.
