Eric Schneider is Professor in the Department of Economic History at the London School of Economics and Political Science. His work analyses how health conditions have changed over time with a particular interest in child and adolescent health. You can find more information about his research at https://sites.google.com/site/ebschneider. I study the history of living standards and health broadly defined in many historical periods and places. These research interests have led me to reconstruct real wages for colonial North and Latin America, test the importance of family size on real wage calculations in early modern England, measure how the cost of digesting food influenced calorie availability in England in the past and analyse the physical growth of American slave children to explain their remarkable catch-up growth.
