Flavio Toxvaerd is a University Associate Professor at the University of Cambridge. Specialising in microeconomics and applications, he has for many years done research on the economics of infectious diseases, publishing both in economics and biology journals. In addition to his academic work, he has engaged in policy formulation as the Senior Economic Advisor to the Independent Review on Antimicrobial Resistance (2014-16), jointly set up by HM Government and the Wellcome Trust and has also advised government on issues such as social distancing and vaccination. Since 2016, he has been a member of the Academic Panel of the Competition and Markets Authority.
