Gert Koopman

Gert Jan Koopman is Director for the "Economic Service and Structural Reforms" Directorate in the European Commission which specialises in providing economic policy advice, notably on labour and product market reforms, to other Commission departments and to the EU's Member States. Prior to that, he was Director for Industrial Policy in the European Commission. Gert Jan joined the European Commission's Economic and Financial Affairs Department in 1991 and worked in a number of positions at the Commission. He started his career at the CPB Netherlands Bureau of Economic Policy Analysis after having obtained degrees in economics and classics from the University of Amesterdam.
