Professor Toniolo, who passed away on November 13, 2022, specialised in the field of European economic history in the 19th and 20th Centuries. His interests included European economic growth, international monetary cooperation, financial history and distribution of welfare and income over the last two centuries.
Gianni was a long-time CEPR Fellow, appointed in 1988 and participating in the IM and EH Programme Areas.
