Gong Cheng

Senior Economist at Bank For International Settlements

Gong Cheng is a senior economist at the Bank for International Settlements, with a focus on Chinese economy, sovereign debt, and green finance. In 2014-2020, he was a senior economist at the European Stability Mechanism, where he led policy and research work on Regional Financing Arrangements (RFAs) and sovereign debt restructuring. He especially contributed to the set-up of a policy framework for the collaboration between RFAs and the IMF. He was an economist in the International Macroeconomics Division of Banque de France in 2010-2013. Gong Cheng holds a PhD in economics from Sciences Po and master's degrees in finance and international political economy from Sciences Po and London School of Economics.
