Gustavo A. Marrero has a PhD in economics from the Universidad Autonoma de Barcelona, and is currently a professor of economics and Director of the Research Center of Social Inequality and Governance (CEDESOG) at the University of La Laguna (Spain). Previously, he has been associate professor at U. Complutense de Madrid, U. Autonoma de Barcelona, and visiting researcher at Boston University, Arizona State University, FEDEA and at the World Bank. His current fields of research are economic growth, inequality of opportunity, poverty and environmental economics. He has published more than 20 articles in academic journals, and has coordinated and participated in more than 10 competitive research projects at the national and international level.
