
Jiri Podpiera is an Economist in the IMF's European Department. He specialises in monetary economics and economic convergence issues. He has experience in surveillance of several countries in Western Hemisphere and two program countries in Europe (Serbia and Cyprus). He started his career at the Czech National Bank and in 2004-09 was Director of International Economics Division there and the Czech member of the monetary policy committee of the European Central Bank. He was a Visiting Researcher in ECB's Research Department in 2006. He graduated from CERGE-EI of Charles University.
