Joao Leal works as an economist at the European Commission DG ECFIN. He joined the Commission in 2016 as a seconded national official from the Portuguese Ministry of Finance. He was previously coordinator of the Forecasts and Quantitative Analysis Unit at the Office for Economic Policy and International Affairs of the Portuguese Ministry of Finance. He also worked as an economist in the Cabinet of the Minister of State and Finance and at the Cabinet set up to coordinate the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding of the Portuguese Adjustment Programme.
