Joel Stiebale is a Professor of Empirical Industrial Economics at the Düsseldorf Institute for Competition Economics (DICE). He is a member of the economic advisory group on competition policy of the European Commission and a member of the economic expert panel of the Competition & Markets Authority in the UK. Previously, he has been employed as an Assistant Professor at the University of Nottingham and as a researcher at the Rhine Westphalian Institute for Economic Research (RWI). His research focusses on empirical studies in the areas of industrial organization, international economics, economics of innovation and development economics. Recently, he has been working on topics such as the impact of mergers and acquisitions, the effects of innovation policy and patent protection, and the evolution of market power in the aggregate.
