Jorge Ponce

Research Economist at Central Bank of Uruguay, Associate Professor of Economics and Finance at University of the Republic

Jorge Ponce is Research Economist at Banco Central del Uruguay and Associate Professor of Economics and Finance at Universidad de la República (Uruguay). He holds a Master in International Economics from Universidad de la República, and a Master in Financial Markets and Intermediaries and a Ph.D. in Economics from Toulouse School of Economics. He was awarded the Prize Doctor Manuel Noriega Morales 2004-2005 (Banco de Guatemala), and the Prize Raúl Trajtenberg 2007-2008 (given every two years to the best economist in Uruguay under the age of 35 by dECON, Universidad de la República). His research interests include financial stability, banking theory, financial regulation and the design of financial supervision institutions.
