Jota Ishikawa

Professor of International Economics at Hitotsubashi University, Faculty Fellow at RIETI

Jota Ishikawa is a professor of International Economics at the Graduate School of Economics and the Faculty of Economics at Hitotsubashi University. Professor Ishikawa received his B.A. and M.A. from Hitotsubashi University and his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Western Ontario in 1990, and joined the Hitotsubashi faculty in 1991. He served as the dean of the Graduate School and Faculty of Economics from 2013 to 2015. Professor Ishikawa has received professional honors and awards including the Kojima Kiyoshi Prize from the Japan Society of International Economics (JSIE). He was the president of the JSIE from 2014 to 2016. He is also a faculty fellow at the Research Institute of Economy, Trade & Industry (RIETI) which is a public policy think tank established in 2001. Professor Ishikawa has written extensively on international trade. His research focuses on trade policies under imperfect competition and trade and environment. He has published papers in distinguished academic journals including Journal of International Economics, Journal of Development Economics, International Economic Review, and Economic Theory.
