Katrin Kamin is an empirical economist with a background in political science. She conducts research on international trade and international political economy with a special focus on geoeconomics. In particular, she works on the interactions between economic and political variables, such as democratisation and conflicts with trade. Katrin is a PostDoc, the Deputy Director of the Research Centre Trade Policy and Co-Director of the Geopolitics and Economics Initiative at the Kiel Institute for the World Economy. Previously, she was the Head of the Trade Policy Task Force at the Kiel Institute. She was a Volkwagen-Foundation Postdoc-Fellow in 2019 and completed her doctorate on "International Trade and Conflict: Determinants, Impact, Endogeneity and Data" at Kiel University. Currently, Katrin is focusing on the geopolitics of European and German foreign trade policy, autocratization and trade and the influence of (geopolitical) conflicts on investments.
