Founder Director-General at Open University of Mauritius

Kaviraj is the founder Director-General of the Open University of Mauritius (OU) that he set up in 2012. Today OU is not only financially independent and ISO-certified university but it is also the only local university that is having continuous positive growth for the last six years. OU is a member of prestigious international networks such as Association of Commonwealth Universities. He has developed the Two-parameter Alternative Group Explicit (TAGE) Iterative Method for the Solution of a Tridiagonal Linear System of Equations that is being used by other researchers. He has also established and managed the Research and Consultancy Division of the Human Resource Development Council from 2005 to 2011 where he led the development of the National Human Resource Development Plan for Mauritius. He has been a consultant for several organisations including UNESCO, ILO, UNDP and ADEA. He has published research papers and supervised several masters and doctoral theses. He has studied at University of Loughborough, UK, and University of Mauritius for his Ph.D. in Computational Mathematics (1997). He holds an MBA with Distinction (ranked first) from the University of Surrey, UK (2011). He has an honorary position at the prestigious Imperial College London, UK.
