Lea Paterson

Head of the Inflation Report & Agency Intelligence Division at Bank Of England

Lea Paterson is Head of the Inflation Report & Agency Intelligence Division at the Bank of England. She oversees the production of the Inflation Report, the Bank’s flagship communications vehicle for monetary policy, and has been responsible for implementing the changes to the Inflation Report prompted by the Stockton Review of the MPC’s Forecasting Capability. She also heads the Bank’s network of 12 regional agencies. Lea’s previous roles at the Bank have included management posts in the Structural Economic Analysis and Macro-Financial Analysis Divisions. She was also a member of the staff team who worked on the first phase of the Bank’s forward guidance. Prior to joining the Bank, Lea worked as an Economist in the private sector, as well as in financial journalism. She was Economics Editor of The Times of London from 2000 to 2004. Lea was recently appointed Director of Independent Evaluation at the Bank of England, and takes up her new post on September 1.
