Luis Lopez-Calva

Luis F. Lopez-Calva is Chief Economist at the Regional Bureau of Latin America and the Caribbean of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). Previously he was Visiting Scholar at the Stanford Center for International Development at Stanford University, Associate Professor and Chair of the Masters in Public Economics in the Graduate School of Public Affairs of the Tecnologico de Monterrey, Mexico City Campus, and Professor at the Colegio de Mexico and Universidad de las Americas, Puebla.He was Director of the Human Development Research Office in Mexico (UNDP-Mexico), a member of the Mexican Commission on Macroeconomics and Health, and Chair of the Network on Inequality and Poverty, a LACEA network. Lapez-Calva received his doctórate in Economics from Cornell University. His research focuses on child labour, poverty, inequality, institutional and development economics.
