Mara Vitale is a researcher at UCLouvain (Belgium). She received her PhD in anthropology from the EHESS in Paris. Her research has focused on Islam in sub-Saharan Africa. Her study interests include gender issues. For the past few years she has also been working on the history of universities in preindustrial Europe.
