Maria Ferreira is a Senior Economist and Research professional at ING, working in the international consumer economics team in Amsterdam. She joined the firm in January 2018, after completing her PhD in Economics at Maastricht University. She is responsible for the Research Hub of the Think Forward Initiative, a multidisciplinary movement to empower people to make better financial decisions. Maria is also involved in the team conducting and publishing the results from the ING International Survey. Maria obtained a Master degree in Development Economics from Erasmus University Rotterdam in 2012 and a Master degree in Development Management from the Andes University (Colombia) in 2010. She graduated as an Economist from the Industrial University of Santander, Colombia (2006), where she held an Assistant Professorship until 2017. Maria has expertise in the fields of Empirical Microeconomics, Labour Economics, Development Economics, Economics of Education and Household and Family Economics. Her research interests also include Household Finance and Programme and Policy Evaluation.
