Marie-Anne Valfort is an Associate Professor of Economics at the Paris School of Economics and University Paris 1 Panthéon Sorbonne as well as an IZA Research Fellow.
She holds a DPhil (PhD) in Economics from Ecole Polytechnique, a graduate degree in Economics from Paris School of Economics and a graduate degree in Management from HEC Paris.
Her main research interests are in discriminations, especially in the labour market. Her contribution includes measuring discriminations, isolating their causes, evaluating their consequences and identifying efficient anti-discrimination policies. She has devoted several research papers to anti-Muslim discrimination in Christian-majority countries. But religion is not the only ground of discrimination she explores. She also investigates the glass ceiling effects that hurt women, as well as the unfair treatments faced by visible minorities, older workers or sexual and gender minorities. In 2016, she joined the OECD Directorate for Employment, Labour and Social Affairs where she is notably in charge of the OECD work on the inclusion of LGBTI (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Intersex) people.
