Dr. Marie Thursby is Professor and Hal and John Smith Chair in Entrepreneurship at the College of Management, Georgia Institute of Technology and a Research Associate of the National Bureau of Economic Research. Her research interests include the economics of innovation, with particular emphasis on role of universities in innovation systems, multinational R&D decisions, and how incentive systems created by government and other institutional policies affect inventive effort, as well as the disclosure and diffusion of scientific discoveries. She is founding Director of the multidisciplinary Georgia Tech/ Emory University graduate program Technological Innovation: Generating Economic Results which serves graduate students in engineering, science, economic, law, and management. She is also an Associate Editor for a number of journals including Management Science and the Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization.
