Marie Vasek is an assistant professor in the Computer Science department at the University of New Mexico. Her research is in computer security; she uses tools from economics and insight from traditional computer science to analyze cybercrime. She currently co-directs StopBadware, an anti-malware organization she started working for in 2011.
She completed her PhD at the University of Tulsa under the direction of Dr. Tyler Moore. She was a 2016 Google Anita Borg scholar. She received an MS from the Computer Science and Engineering department at SMU and a BA from Wellesley College with a major in computer science and a minor in mathematics.
