Massimiliano Ferraresi is Research Economist at the European Commission, Joint Research Centre in Ispra, Varese, Italy. He works for the Competence Centre on Microeconomic Evaluation (CC-ME). He received a PhD in Public Economics from the University of Ferrara in 2015 and a MSc in Economics – Economic Policy from University College London in 2012. His research interests broadly fall into two categories: Public Economics and Political Economy. His work is largely based on data analysis and applies rigorous econometric methods for identifying causal relationships. He uses micro econometric approaches to address research questions and he works with large-N longitudinal micro-data database. He has published on a range of topics, including public finance, EU reguations, investment, election, and political budget cycles.
