Assistant Professor of Economics at Xavier University

Matt is an Assistant Professor of Economics at Xavier University in Cincinnati, OH. He is interested in applied microeconomics but his research focuses on mental health policy. His work has explored the role of firearms in crime and suicide, effectiveness of mental health policy and seasonal patterns of youth suicide. He has been at Xavier since receiving his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of California - Santa Barbara in 2010, where he studied health and labour economics. Prior to studying UCSB, he received an M.Sc. in Economics from the London School of Economics and a B.Sc. in Economics from the University of Redlands. His work has been published in The Economic Journal, Health Economics and the Economics of Education Review.
