Matthew Notowidigdo

Matthew Notowidigdo is an Associate Professor of Economics at Northwestern University and a Fellow at the Institute for Policy Research. He is also an Associate Editor at the Quarterly Journal of Economics and a Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economics Research. His current research focuses on long-term unemployment, unemployment insurance, public health insurance, and consumer bankruptcy. He is a recent winner of the 2014 Hicks-Tinbergen Medal for the most outstanding article published in the Journal of the European Economic Association. He studied at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he received a B.S. in economics, a B.S. in computer engineering, a M.Eng. in computer science, and a Ph.D. in economics.
