Matthias Breuer is an Assistant Professor of Business at Columbia University's Graduate School of Business. His research interests revolve around the determinants and economic consequences of firms’ financial reporting. His recent research examines how reporting and auditing regulations affect the competitiveness of capital and product markets, the investment and disclosure incentives of regulated and unregulated firms, the location of economic activity, and aggregate productivity growth. His research has been presented at leading conferences, published in the Journal of Accounting Research and the Review of Financial Studies, and received the Best Paper Awards of the Annual Accounting Conference 2018 (Berlin) and the American Accounting Association's FARS Midyear Meeting 2019 (Seattle).
