Matthias Mertens is the Coordinator of the Scientific Staff of the Competitiveness Research Network (CompNet) and post-doctoral researcher at the Halle Institute for Economic Research (IWH), where he also leads the IWH-CompNet-Group. He coordinates the data collection, dataset construction, and provision of the CompNet dataset and guides research activities within the IWH-CompNet-Group. His research focuses on the micro-level drivers of firm-level and aggregate productivity, market power in product and factor markets, and production factor (mis)allocation.
