Monika Butler is currently Professor of Economics and Public Policy at St. Gallen University, Switzerland and Managing Director of the Swiss Institute for Empirical Economic Research SEW-HSG. She is Research Fellow at CESifo and Netspar, and a Research Affiliate at CEPR. Her field of research is ageing and pensions, family economics and political economics. Prior to her PhD Monika Bütler worked as a mathematician in the private sector for many years. She was an Assistant Professor at Tilburg University (CentER) and a Full Professor at Lausanne University. She has also worked as a Consultant to the World Bank and the Swiss government.
