Monika Merz is a Professor of Economics at the University of Vienna. She was previously on the economics faculty at the University of Bonn (2001-2010). Merz received her Ph.D. in 1994 from Northwestern University and held an appointment as Assistant Professor of Economics at Rice University in Houston prior to coming to Bonn.Her research primarily focuses on macroeconomic aspects of labour markets. She currently uses structural estimation in order to estimate the predictions from a household model on the time-allocation of couples. Subsidiary research interests lie in education and labour markets. Recent publications are in the American Economic Review and the Journal of Monetary Economics. Monika Merz has been a CEPR Research Fellow since 2010 and a Research Fellow at IZA since 2001.
