Murugi Ndirangu

Director, Columbia Global Centers | Nairobi at Columbia University

Murugi Ndirangu is the director of the Columbia Global Centers | Nairobi in Kenya. Previously she was an Associate Professor of Nutrition and Health Care Management at Appalachian State University in North Carolina. Before that she was on faculty at Georgia State University. She has experience working in resource challenged rural and urban settings in East Africa, low-income neighborhoods in Atlanta, and the Lower Mississippi Delta regions of Mississippi, Louisiana and Arkansas. She completed a post-doctoral fellowship with the Earth Institute at Columbia University in New York, where she worked with the Millennium Villages Project (MVP), in Sauri village in Western Kenya. Specifically, her role focused on the development of school feeding programs, child growth monitoring, HIV/AIDS and nutrition, and food security interventions.
